Fall 2013 Ready-to-Wear: Prada

Fall 2013 Ready-to-Wear: Burberry Prorsum

Function - Incubation

Function - Incubation (OSTGUT TON) Comentários: Sandwell District official and NYC techno legend, Dave Sumner, aka Function presents his hugely anticipated debut album thru Ostgut Ton. As is well reported, it's taken him 16 years to reach this point, but to be fair, he's already had a hand in one of the biggest techno LP's of the last decade in 'Feed Forward', and laid out more than enough killer solo 12"s and gear with Portion:Reform to assuage any indictment of laziness. And far from lazy, 'Incubation' is a predominantly gymnastic affair, albeit with a moody cinematic bent. Scene-setting sci-fi vista 'Voiceprint' sets the tone for a super sleek and rugged collection equally adept at rocking a club or turning your bedroom into a blacklit techno fantasia. There's the stoic kicks and cavernous rendering of 'Against The Wall' to get you in the groove, and the teasing vortex of 'Counterpoint' to prime you for the rippling tribal sweat-off, 'Modifier', and a gorgeous slab of Millsian dystopia on 'Incubation (Ritual)', and a sexier balance found in 'Voiceprint (Reprise)', balanced against slower tempos and tactile texturing with the sublime 'Inter (Album Version)' and the Morphosis-like needlework of 'Psychic Warfare', all lending a finely crafted ebb and flow to the story, skillfully rendered by a mixdown from feted engineer and producer in his own right, Tobias Freund. Ultimately, it's an emotional and efficiently effective ride... in boomkat

Holly Herndon Boiler Room London LIVE Show

Acteurs - Cloud Generating

Acteurs is a band with considerable musical pedigree behind it. via factmagazine
About the album : Outstanding wave riders from yet another class new act picked up by Public Information. Oscillating in the shadows of Ike Yard, Neu!, Chris Carter, and sharing mindsets with Powell, Silent Servant or Factory Floor, the Chicago duo, Jeremy Lemos and Brian Case (90 Day Men / Disappears), have honed a studio-buff sound throbbing with industrial vitality and cloaked in sci-fi intrigue. As first impressions go, the titular opener is practically jaw-dropping, tensing the body with 'phet-stepping pulses and urgent incantations worthy of their heroes, while the mutant crawl of 'Lowow' swiftly displays their breadth of scope, expanding into the mind-erasing wormhole of 'Dusk Removing' and the sculpted sludge of 'Golden Rabbit' on the A-side. Turn over and the phosphoresing 'Critter' deftly twists the narrative with the elusive effect of a fine-tuned pharmaceutical, and the expansive 'Freezing Fog' makes connections between the bleakest German techno, post-industrial noise and downtown cyberpunk atmosphere with visceral, skin-crawling subtlety. Together with the beautiful sleeve art, it's a huge recommendation.

Gnod - Presents... Dwellings & Druss

Gnod - Presents... Dwellings & Druss (Trensmat) Comentários: **Marbled gold wax** Manchester's own psychedelic assault squad follow up one of thee records ov last year - a killer split with $&$ - presenting the E2E4/Basic Channel-esque wormholes of 'Dwellings & Druss'. Our minds are still scorched at the edges from catching a chokingly heavy live set 'longside Stephen Bishop in the bowels of their spiritual home, Islington Mill - full on smoke machine and dual strobe intensity - and this killer session flashes us right back to the midst of their Guantanamo-like machine interrogations. So, 'Dwellings & Druss' boils down to three prickly yet well-oiled psycho-techno incursions; writhing with the jagged pulses and roiling undercurrents of a 'Dwellings - Revelation 9' prelude before entering the vortex of slow-panning acid and hulking black hole techno with 'Druss' and single handedly making a decade of dub techno dilettantes fall by the wayside. This is hypnotic motorik sorcery at its finest. Likewise, the slow yield pacing, restraint and intent of the flipside is genius, coming off like Ike Yard meets Cluster in Mark Ernestus' studio for nigh on 20 minutes of brittle, pointillist body rhythm and ether noise dissipated and reforming with syzygystic logic. Hats off, this is f**king class. in boomkat [Para Ouvir / Samples]

Leven Signs - Hemp Is Here

Leven Signs - Hemp Is Here (Digitalis) Comentários: 'Hemp Is Here' is a shockingly prescient 1985 new wave diamond rescued from almost certain obscurity by Digitalis. In the manner of BEB's Flaming Tunes reissue or Forced Nostalgia's Vazz dig, it's one of those records which instantly begs the question; where have you been all our lives?! At nearly 30 years old it's aged remarkably well, constructed by Peter Karkut's rhythmic sleight of hand and peppered with timelessly evocative vocals courtesy of Maggie Turner, yet of course feels attached to that fertile era of bedroom experimentation when folk felt freed of sonic restraint and permitted to just do what felt right and good. And this is very right, and seriously good! They've got us by the knackers with opener 'Our Position Vanishes', a whirligig amalgam of Muslimgauze-esque mid-eastern loops and Indra Dunis-like vocals, and don't let go, cycling onto the crooked mystic pop of 'Prague Spring' and the cryptic, calligraphic intricacies of 'La Luna' and the wheezy slowfast dirge 'Sedes Sapientiae' for one of the most shocking A-sides you could hope for. Turn over and there's the super rugged - as in rude AND rough - DIY beats of 'Carry the Torch' and the swaggering 'This Inner Space' sucking us into the sacred-feeling trio of ante-chambers starting at 'Rumi', bowing into the organ recital 'Das Seal' and breathtaking closer, 'Held In Arms'. This is love at first listen, but don't worry, we can all share... in boomkat

Cakes Da Killa - The Eulogy

What you're about to get into is twelve songs that combine the fury of trap music, EDM, bounce, juke, and club music with the opulent dismissal of a drag queen shutting down her fiercest rival at a ball. This is music for ass shaking, for fighting, for fucking. Cakes' The Eulogy is for motherfuckers who act like the world is theirs, and have no problem reminding everyone else of their plebeian status.
